Jogan is a 1950 classic Hindi movie starring Dilip Kumar, Nargis, Pratima Devi, Purnima, Tabassum and Rajendra Kumar (Debut). The word jogan is the female equivalent in Hindi of jogi from which we get the English word yogi. These are people (ascetics, dervishes, mendicants) who have renounced the world in search of spiritual enlightenment. This usually includes vows of celibacy and sexual abstinence and this point forms the crux of this movie: Dilip Kumar's character becomes attracted to a woman whose vocation means she cannot reciprocate. The equivalent would be someone falling in love with a nun.
